I Guess I’ll Start Here…
Writing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I can trace it all the way back to fourth grade when my teacher, Mrs. Carol Kransic, introduced me to journaling. She encouraged us to just write—not worrying about spelling, grammar, or whether it even made sense. It was about getting our thoughts, down on paper. And thats how I fell in love with words.
I guess you could say, i’ve always been a good storyteller. At just nine years old, I decided I was going to write a book about my great Aunt Rose’s life. With an old-school typewriter and a whole lot of ambition, I started drafting her story. I have no idea where those drafts ended up, but I wish I could read what I had written. I’d like to think that little girl would be proud of where I am now—still holding onto that dream of publishing a book one day, just on a different topic. **More to come about that in a future post.**
Throughout every season of my life, writing has always had an important place—and it’s always been there. A constant. A way to process my thoughts, emotions, and the chaos life throws my way. I used to journal religiously, but over the years, my journals started collecting dust. Life got busier—kids, teaching, photography, just… everything. I kept telling myself, “One day, I’ll get back to writing.”
Well, today is that day.
I’ve thought about starting a blog for a long time but always found a reason to put it off. Now, I’m finally listening to that little voice that’s been nudging me to just start.
So, if you’re here, welcome! Through My Lens is more than just a reference to my photography—it’s about perspective. Life has shaped the way I uniquely see the world, and I feel called to share that view with others in some way. Whether it’s through my experiences as an art teacher, the raw and beautiful moments of motherhood, my journey as a photographer, or the process of grief and healing after losing a child, this space will reflect the many layers of who I am.
This blog is for anyone navigating the messiness of life, the creatives, the storytellers, the dreamers, and those struggling with loss. Expect deep reflections, creative inspiration, a few laughs, a little bit of chaos, and plenty of real-life moments—because life isn’t always picture-perfect, but it’s ours, and that’s what makes it worth capturing.
So here’s to finally starting. I’m letting go of perfection, expectation, and fear of judgment. If any of this resonates with you, I’d love for you to stick around. I’ll be sharing new posts weekly—so let’s see where this journey takes us.
I’m so glad you’re here.
